Reflection on this year.

This is it!, the time of the end of the year has come!. I finally say and turn away with a goodbye to my childhood school. I've made many memories, some bad, most great. I'll remember all the love and erase all the hate. I thank God for helping me through my journey here at this school, it was hard, tiring and not easy, but having to do it all was worth it. I started in 2006 and I'm now signing off. I want to thank all the teachers who've had to put up with my behaviour, and mouth, they've been by my side on my journey here. I have learnt to be more than a leader, I've become more mature and humble. Thanks to everyone here at this school, for making my school years incredible. xx

Cookie Time.

Today we were given the chance to decorate some cookies, thanks to the Te Rangi Tera group. It was so much fun watching people decorate cookies, and eating them too. I didn't join in because I felt a bit sick, but it looked like everyone enjoyed themselves.

In this image, it shows cookies that were made by my friend. It looks so delicious, full of sweets. Gummy Bears, M&M's, Rainbow Sprinkles and Icing :) YUMMY!

Roots creation.

Today we had the opportunity to be apart of a project that was wide. A group called Roots, came to school to explain it.

We all had to make an artwork about what we hoped for. Room 7 tweaked up our work by making a Spiral. In this image it shows Tangi and I putting our artwork into bottles.

The artwork is being put together by the Roots group and then transformed into a wave. The presentation will be put up for show at the waterfront in town. Over 60 thousand people will be seeing the wave, the wave will be up for the whole of summer. When summer comes to an end the bottles will be put up into green houses.
I'm excited for people to see my artwork.

Home Is A Special Place.

{ Opening Statement }

A home, it is a special place for many things. It’s there when something has gone wrong, or when in time of celebration.  A home is the heart of the family, it brings everyone together, in one place where the love of the family began. It’s where YOU belong.

{ Body }

A home.

Firstly, having a home is special, it’s the place where everyone gathers for something important or very special, it brings the warmth of love to everyone. Having a home is where you feel accepted and comfortable.

Secondly, home is where you belong. It’s where you grow and learn the understandings of life, with the help of everyone who loves you. Home is where you learn to laugh, love and to forgive. It’s where you spend your life with those who make you happy and comfortable.

And lastly, my home, I feel that having a home is where I can do and say whatever I please, it’s my personal space. I feel safe every time I’m home, knowing that I’m protected by the shield of my family.

{ Conclusion }

Being able to have a home is a gift. There are many homes in this world, there will always be that one particular place full of love and support. Like it is said “There’s no place like home”

Term 4 is nearly here.

Wow schools just around the corner. I was just thinking, last term was hectic, I wonder how big and busy this term's going to be?. I know that some people aren't looking forward to going back to school, but I'm pretty excited, it's my last term at this school. We've only got 9 or 10 weeks of school, I'm going to try and make the most of this school, because at the end of it all, I'm going to miss it.

Holiday Task.

Wow the holidays are nearly over. We've only got a few more days and we are all back to learning. Before the holidays began, our school was asked to do one thing during the holidays, read a book.
For the past few days I haven't been on the internet, I've been reading a book, 'Chanda's Secrets' by Allan Stratton. I've read most of the book, and I feel so touched already. I can't wait for the ending. I look forward to writing out my overview of the book.

Holiday Update.

Well yesterday was just terrible. The power was out everywhere!, and just driving around with everything empty. With everything so pitch black, I felt scared to even look, it seemed like a dark ghost town had taken over our streets. Apparently the cause of the power cut, was a fire that blew out the power system. Nothing worked, anything that was electrical was off, and for me I found it hard.

In my last post I mentioned that I was going to Puhoi. Going there meant a lot. It was just calm, fun, and warm. The sun shone, and it made the day even better. We need a sunny day here in Auckland, the weather here isn't good enough. But for now I love the weather, windy and rainy, because I find that it draws family closer.

The Haps For Tomorrow !

Well today wasn't bad. I watched movies with my sisters and cleaned up. Tomorrow I'll be going up north to visit my sister Roseanna, in Puhoi. It's going to be around and hours drive to Puhoi, but going with my sisters and brothers, I know it's going to be fun. I look forward to visiting my sister, I haven't been up north to see her in a while.

Fun Holidays.

What a wonderful night!. I didn't get home till late, but my parents were fine with it. I loved it. Watching two movies in one night, first Step Up, then The Maze Runner. I am blessed to have such wonderful friends, and a wonderful teacher. This just made my holidays fun.

Holiday Time.

Wow, it's the holidays, but I don't have anything interesting happening, which is weird. Tomorrow I'll be going to the movies with Mrs Middleton, her daughter Abby, Dawn & Lose, we'll be watching the new Step Up movie. :) I can't wait for a fun day to come. :)

The Gospel of Today.

Today for prayer we read the Gospel of Matthew. It was about Jesus telling everyone the story about the Father and the two sons. I came out understanding that we should obey our parents.
I have made a page about my understanding of it.

Diorama of a Dairy Farm.

In class, we were making a Diorama about a Dairy Farm. My group made a diorama. In this image it shows a cow shed with a cow in it, a cow in the paddock and a tractor. I like what we've done so far but I think it still needs work on it.

Expressive Writing.

Teachers, why do they have to be so annoying?, I’ve met a few teachers who I think are a bit “crazy” in their own ways, crazy in a funny way, and crazy as in mental.

You either like or hate a teacher, but with me I find it hard to even think about that, because there are two types of teachers, 1 - there are the gentle and nice teachers, 2 - cruel and mean teachers.

I cope with them everyday, (just kidding). I am grateful for the teacher I’ve come upon, even though I don’t have great day with them, I’m grateful for their help.

You should be grateful for any teacher you get, because their help is all you’ll get from a teacher, and it’s a great gift.

Expressive Writing, Losing Someone.

Losing someone that is very close to you is nothing you could ever imagine. Emotions hit you as you cry, the pain feels as if it'll never end.

As I sat staring out the window I couldn't think of anything but the sounds of everyone else crying.

It took me awhile to realise that I've lost someone, and then it hits me. When I heard the sound of my mum crying, I started, a flood of tears rushed down my face like a waterfall.

Days past, and I still wait to see her, and then the day comes. As I stood at the door of the Funeral Home, I knew that I couldn't walk in, I didn't want to feel the pain any more, then I hear the sound of my mum crying again, I felt the pain, the pain never ended.

My Expressive Writing.

Starting here at Saint Pius X Catholic School was a very big thing for me. I’m so happy that I’ve got to know so many people, and to have such wonderful friends. When I leave this school, I’m going to miss everyone, including the teachers.

I’ve made so many memories here at Saint Pius, I’ll never forget my first, which was being welcomed into the school. I’ve made friends with new people, and I’ve also said said goodbye to some,  but the love and support that we have for each other will never end.

I personally know for sure that I’ve learnt to be a good friend and leader here at this school, and being a good friend and leader is an amazing gift.

This school means a lot to me, that’s why I’ll always keep it in my heart. Wherever I go, I’ll always have the school motto to guide me along the way, “Advanced in Faith, Hope & Love”. I’ll treasure  all the memories and the gifts of this school. Finally I am proud to say that Saint Pius X Catholic School, is the best school ever.

Second Holidays of the Year.

Hello everyone,

It is well into the holidays, but the weather is just terrible. Hard winds blowing the trees, and blowing against the windows, (it sounds like they might crack). But the weather doesn't stop me from having a wonderful time during these school holidays. My niece is here from Australia, and having her over makes it more fun.

So far I've been to Rainbows End, and I have been Ice-skating, but I have much more planned out for these holidays, I can't wait. Tomorrow I will be Roller-skating with the whole family, it'll be so much fun. :)

Milk Experience !

CHILLY MILK EXPERIMENT:

PURPOSE:   TO OBSERVE AND RECORD THE CHANGES WHEN DIFFERENT MILK IS PUT IN THE FREEZER.

WHAT YOU NEED: a selection of 3 different type of milk
clear container

WHAT TO DO: Put  an equal volume of each type of milk in a clear container
Place each container in the freezer
Record what happens to each type of milk as it freezes.  Note its colour, texture and shape.
Record the time it takes to each variety to freeze.

Type of milk
What times was it put in and taken out.
what it looked like once it had frozen
Time taken to freeze
Soy Milk
Put in : 1:08pm

Checked : 3:15pm

Taken out : 9:30am
@ 3:15pm - The milk was frozen, but there was bits of water coming out.
Prediction : 35 Minutes.

- 1 Hr 15 Min

Condensed Milk
Put in : 1:08pm

Checked : 3:15pm

Taken out : 9:30am
@ 3:15pm - The condensed milk was still smooth and runny.
Prediction : 25 Minutes

- Didn’t freeze at all.
Almond Milk
Put in : 1:08pm

Checked : 3:15pm

Taken out : 9:30am
@ 3:15pm - The Almond milk was frozen, completely.
Prediction :  35 Minutes

- 1 Hr

Water freezes easily.

Soy Milk : I think there was about 30% of water in this milk. Looking at the frozen product, the milk was frozen, but bits of water was running out.

Condensed Milk : The condensed milk didn’t freeze because the water in the milk was removed.

Almond Milk : I think there was 55% of water in this milk. Because the it froze quickly.

Conclusion :
Overall the liquid with water froze, and became solid.

Kindness Assembly! :)

On the 23rd of May, we, Room 7, had our virtues assembly. It was the first assembly for the year. Our assembly was based on the virtue ‘Kindness’.

Our assembly was to show and tell the school things about Kindness.
There were 3 groups. Each group presented something about kindness. In the group I was in, we presented two types of poems, an acrostic poem and an original poem written by Leki, and finally a song that Lose and I have composed.
Since our song was so catchy, Mrs Tui decided to teach the school. Now everywhere I go I hear people singing it.

Just because there were only three groups, doesn't mean we didn't give enough information about kindness. I'm sure at the end of our assembly everyone had an understanding of Kindness, and why it is important to use it. I know that I'm going to try and use the virtue of Kindness, towards my learning, and to everyone. :)

Kindness Mat

photo.JPG

For writing, we are doing a procedural writing. A procedural writing, is a writing that gives instruction or direction.  For our procedural writing, we followed instructions to making an ‘island mat’.

We used 2 sorts of paper, 1 plain black, and a coloured paper. We weaved the paper together and made a mat. Since we were doing an assembly about ‘Kindness’, we decided to title our work as a ‘Kindness Mat’.

Reflection on the Gospel.

Today after prayer, we reflected on the Gospel Reading from John.
In the reading, Jesus says “Don’t be worried” he also says
“There are many rooms in my Fathers house”. To me this means that there is always space in our Fathers home for everyone.
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light.” This means that Jesus is the way to God, Jesus is the Truth about God and Jesus is the Light of God.
Jesus is a resemblance of God. Through him and with him we can be a part of God's’ Kingdom.

Holy Spirit Prayer

Dear Holy Spirit,
Thank you for being a part of my life, each day you are there to remind me that I am a child of God. You gave me the gift of forgiving and forgetting. Help me to be brave like the apostles, and follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Thank you for helping me become this young teenager I am today.
Amen!
